The COVID-19 pandemic has re-shaped a swathe of economic activity. In its wake, governments and businesses alike are searching for ways to build back to a more sustainable and circular future and advance both sustainable trade and development. The interactive, virtual session will present insights on innovative ways in which businesses are – or can be – trading services and goods to contribute and build circular business models, both locally and globally.
The event will consider existing tools and good practices, identify practical barriers faced by business sector in terms of circular economy related trade, particularly for developing economies. Panelists will discuss corresponding recommendations for policy-makers on trade-related and other policies. The overall objective of the session is to seek ways to build bridges between sustainable trade and development and, in turn, create an enabling environment for business to shift to a more circular, equitable global economy.
